Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about insuring your expedition.

Coverage Requirements

How much medical evacuation coverage do I need?
For Antarctica and South Georgia, most operators (like Quark, Lindblad, Ponant) require a minimum of $150,000 USD. However, we strongly recommend $250,000+ as an actual evacuation from deep Antarctica can easily exceed minimum limits.
Does my credit card insurance cover these trips?
Rarely. Most credit card policies have low caps on medical evacuation (often $10k-$50k) and exclude 'extreme' activities or remote regions. They almost never satisfy the strict operator requirements for boarding.
What is 'Repatriation of Remains' and is it required?
This covers the transport of a deceased traveler back to their home country. It is a mandatory requirement for 99% of expedition operators.

Claims & Support

How do I file a claim?
You can file a claim 24/7 via our digital portal. You'll need your policy number and documentation of the incident (doctor's report, receipts, delay proof). Our team specializes in expedition claims and can help guide you.
What if I get stuck in Ushuaia or Longyearbyen due to weather?
Trip Delay coverage kicks in. This helps reimburse meals and accommodation expenses while you wait. If the delay causes you to miss the ship's departure, Missed Connection coverage can help with costs to catch up (if possible) or reimbursement of the trip.
